DRIVING IMPRESSION: Kioti has replaced its 73hp RX7330 tractors with the RX8040, the PC-GE model we drive here representing the top model of a range that will ultimately include lower spec cab and roll-bar alternatives. Although the new model shares a great deal with its now well-proven forebear, developments include an all-new five pillar cab and a few productivity enhancing tweaks.

Kioti launched its 73hp RX7330 back in 2016, this model seeing some detail changes such as the engine going through three generations to meet Stage V emission regs. The RX8040 has much the same running gear and hydraulics as its predecessor so is it just a case of ‘old wine in new bottles’ then? Part yes, but not quite. Kioti has managed to ‘modernise’ the RX without taking away key attractions to include an outline spec well-suited to those looking for a simple tractor but without the basic spec that can compromise operator comfort.

Although Kioti does not enjoy the bigger sales volumes of sector leaders like CNH, AGCO and John Deere in the UK and Ireland, it has seen a growing presence in both the amenity and municipal sectors. This, plus strong growth in the USA, Portugal, France and Spain for instance, has helped increase investment in developing the tractors to meet user demands outside the home market of South Korea.

Annual tractor production by parent company Daedong now exceeds 50,000 units.
