The Exos is enjoying plenty of visitor interest on the Lely stand at Eurotier. The autonomous zero grazer and feeder is now on sale in both Germany and the Netherlands.

For now, these are the only two countries where it is available (price under wraps). Denmark will probably be next (demo planned for 2025), and as things currently stand the first machine is unlikely to arrive in the UK until 2026/2027.

In the Netherlands, where 16 machines are already running, the Exos is said to be a viable concept for 150-strong herds with 35ha of grass surrounding the farm. It could also be interesting for 120 cows where fresh grass accounts for 70% of the ration.

We are told that most machines work 240 days a year. They start driving in March and are all still working this month. An average run takes 1.5-2 hours (includes battery charging).

Some machines do as many as 12-14 runs a day (14,000-16,000kg of grass), and a machine at a Dutch dairy farm has already mowed and fed 2.3 million kg of grass this season.
