DRIVING IMPRESSION: Straying away from its usual parts business, Spaldings has been selling the TMC Cancela for several years now. We caught up with one of the heavy-duty machines from the Spanish maker, the TFT225 forestry mulcher.
The TFT series is available in three model sizes, with working widths of 2.25m to 2.50m. We operated the compact 2.25m version.
Professional machine
TMC Cancela aims the TFT mulcher models at professional forestry users with a focus on high performance and clean results. To do that, it incorporates plenty of metal: the TFT 225 weighs in at more than 3.9t and has Cat. III couplers for attachment to the tractor. Chopping power is transmitted via a reinforced driveshaft that powers a movable gearbox. The gearbox, complete with pto drive shaft, mounts in a patented, parallelogram linkage, which ensures the assembly is always sitting at an optimum angle. In addition to the pto shaft, you also connect three double-acting
lines (top link, ejection door, and push bar for
£3,662).
The pto shaft powers the suspended gearbox, which splits the flow to both sides. As an option (£6,599), each side is protected by a turbo clutch that absorbs any peak loads. The turbo clutch is followed up by a pulley that drives the rotor with the help of six V-belts on each side.
