Massey Ferguson’s new six-model 6700 S series peaks with the 6718 S, which is claimed as the world’s first 200hp (with Engine Power Management – EPM) four-cylinder tractor. Launched at the French Innov-Agri farm machinery show this week, all six tractors are powered by the latest AGCO Power 4.9 litre, four-cylinder engine. The new block generates maximum powers from 120hp to 175hp, with EPM boosting output on all models – up to 200hp on the largest 6718 S. Complying with Stage IV emissions using a maintenance free, SCR and a DOC system with an electronic waste-gated turbocharger, the engine develops its maximum power at 2,000rpm and generates maximum torque at 1,500rpm. This, says MF, provides users with the operating benefits associated with larger, longer and heavier six cylinder tractors, but in a compact and light machine. Running costs are reduced by the 600-hour service intervals – 20% longer than previous designs. The 6700 S series is available with a choice of transmissions and all are now also available on tractors with the EPM boost. For the first time, the continuously variable Dyna-VT is now available from the 130hp MF 6713 S model upwards. The latest Eco Dyna-4 transmission travels at 40km/hr at engine speeds as low as 1,850rpm, and the Dyna-6 and Dyna-4 transmissions now provide an AutoDrive pedal mode. In the automatic setting this changes gears automatically, according to the engine load and speed. The cab comes from the existing MF 7700 and MF 5700 SL ranges and is equipped with a new active mechanical cab suspension, with Continuous Damping Control (CDC). Inside the cab, the colour dashboard is the same as that used in the range-topping MF 8700. Available with the Visioline roof option, MF’s 900 front loader can now be specified with a third, ‘live’ service. This enables the operator to open/close a grab and tip or crowd an implement at the same time.
