Instantly recognisable with their galvanised finish, Joskin slurry tankers and associated application equipment are available to cover the demands of small livestock farms through to the largest of contract and AD plant user needs. There is an almost baffling range of units on offer but start from tanker capacity and selecting a used buy will be a lot easier.
It is not unusual for the purchaser of a Joskin slurry tanker and applicator system to keep the combination for more than 10 years, typically only trading it in for a machine with higher capacity and a wider applicator. Nor is it rare for sound older kit to sell for more than it may have cost when new.
This preamble is to warm used buyers up for some simple points. Joskin equipment made back in the early 2000s or even 1990s will not necessarily be ‘cheap’ and Joskin dealer trade-ins seldom reach the retail market as they will already have a buyer lined up. A further consideration is that Joskin kit can be upgraded and modified, with sensible spare parts pricing making it cost-effective to refurbish worn machines.
Key models
Take a glance at Joskin marketing material and delve deep and you will find there is a great deal of choice on offer, with numerous build options. In the UK, however, Joskin sales over the past 20 years or so have tended to focus on a few key models, with the odd machine purpose built to meet specific needs of certain specialist customers.
Modulo2: Fitted with a single axle and sold in 11m3 capacities, these tankers were typically offered with a 4.0m applicator when new. Expect more common used examples to be 20 years plus in age with strong demand from smaller livestock farms. Further up the Modulo range are models of up to 18m3 with a tandem axle.
