Fire suppression installations are popular on forest machines. Valtra believes there could also a market for a system on farm tractors.

A fire in a tractor engine, hydraulics, fuel lines, electrical installations and exhaust aftertreatment system not only spreads quickly but is difficult to put out with a handheld extinguisher.

Claimed as a fast, compact, and efficient technique to quickly extinguish a blaze, Valtra’s automatic fire suppression system comprises an agent tank linked to a network of hoses and nozzles located under the bonnet and cab.

Fitted at the Unlimited Studio at the Suolahti factory in Finland, and available for fitting to the N5, T5 and Q5 ranges, all the operator has to do to release the extinguishing agent is press several buttons on the in-cab control box. It is also possible to operate the system remotely.
