Much of the recent talk about Pöttinger forage wagons has been about the flagship Jumbo 8000 series. At the other end of the capacity scale, the latest version of the Boss 3000 features the classic Supermatic tine conveyor unit.

Available in three sizes with load capacities of 18.7m³, 21.3m³ and 23.5m³ as both high and low-profile versions, the tine conveyor system originated from the Euroboss, a series that will be phased out this year.

The tine conveyor unit can be ordered with three or four arms, which can also be used to load heavy silage. The loader wagons are driven as standard at a PTO speed of 540rpm (1000rpm option) and can be operated by 60hp to 110hp tractors.

Six knives can be slotted in as an option. The knife bank with 16 or 31 knives can be folded out by an optional hydraulic system, and all knives are protected against foreign objects.

The 1.8m wide pick-up is able to move 120mm at the outer edge, and ground tracking is further improved by a trailing jockey wheel chassis. Ground tracking can also be optimised with the Autotast active parallel lift drawbar.

Automatic folding is available for the side extensions, and optional nets ensure the material remains in the box. A LED lighting package is also available. Control systems include a simple pre-select operated by the tractor spool valve, and load-sensing hydraulics operated directly from the control terminal.

The new ISObus compatible models come with a maintenance-free V-belt drive of the pick-up, and the chain drive on the loading unit is greased by a lubrication system. If any maintenance is needed, the wagon indicates the job in the service counter.
