While Can-Am has been building six-wheeled ‘sit-astride quads’ for a number of years, it’s only recently that it’s introduced a three-axle version of its Traxter ATV buggy.
Although the extra pair of wheels help generate additional traction and extend the vehicle’s footprint, they don’t mean it’s able to carry any more in the load deck – both 4×4 and 6×6 versions are limited to 454kg. However towing capacity is increased by nearly 20% to 1,360kg.
An 82hp petrol-powered Rotax twin provides the muscle driving through a two-range belt-driven CVT. Price is around £20,000 – a £2,000 premium over the 4×4 equivalent.
