Taking care of weighing the feedstuffs and additives for individual groups of animals, the F4500 does not have a milling head for loading clamped silage (the 2.2m³ tub is filled from feed bunkers).
The robot mixes the contents and navigates around the farm using laser scanners and is fitted with obstacle detection sensors. It vehicle travels on four wheels. There are two rigid mid-mounted ones and the vehicle turns on the front and rear wheels. It is able to travel up inclines of up to 10%.
Material can be fed to both left or right and any remaining material is automatically pushed up to the feed fence by a deflector plate. Linked to the company’s DairyNet herd management system, the robot can be monitored and controlled from a mobile device.
Initially available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Sweden in Q4 this year, the DairyFeed F4500 will be available globally from 2023. GEA says that no major on-farm changes are needed to instal the system.
