Opico will launch a 6.3m version of the Danish-made He-Va Sward Rejuvenator at the Grassland & Muck event, next month. Designed for overseeding grassland, but also suitable for the reseeding of cultivated ground, when coupled to an Air 16 seeder, the wider machine provides for higher work rates.
Like the original 3m model, the 6.3m model consists of a Shattaboard with slicing plates, followed by two rows of harrow tines. This combination breaks up and levels the soil surface in front of the grass seed outlets, after which soil is firmed behind by a 600mm diameter Prisma roller. With an Air 16 seeder mounted, seeding rates of up to 80kg/ha are possible at working speeds of 5-8km/hr, and Opico says the seeder’s hydraulic fan handles all types of seed and sowing rates, from 1-2kg/ha for clover seed, up to 80kg/ha for grass seed.
The new wider version includes a weight transfer system which ensures an even weight distribution across its three frames, and five pivot points across the three sections ensure they follow ground contours. The Sward Rejuvenator can also be used without the seeder for harrowing grassland to remove trash and stimulate grass growth, and for molehill levelling. Folding hydraulically to a transport width of 2.5m, the 6.3m model, together with an Air 16 seeder, retails at £38,824 +VAT.
