BKT says the tread incisions and special compound of its RideMax IT697 (M+S) tractor tyres provide traction and grip at low temperatures on wet, icy and snowy roads without the need for snow chains.
Designed for transport operations, and currently available in 12 different sizes (largest is 710/70 R42), the new boots are also said to give maximum performance in normal conditions.
Other claimed benefits of the tread design include reduced rolling resistance and good stability at speed. In-house tests point to over 4,000 working hours, compared to 3,000 hours for standard rear axle rubber.
