The extendable arms on the ZKP1400, the first four-rotor rake from the Polish manufacturer, allows the working width to be adjusted from 11.30m-13.50m.
The individual six-wheel chassis below each rotor is said to result in good ground contour following, and tensioning springs transfer some of the weight of the front two rotors onto the main frame.
The two large support/transport wheels are designed to reduce ground pressure, and all functions, such as folding and unfolding and rotor height, are all controlled from the in-cab terminal.
Individual slip or overload clutches protect the gearbox and shafts from damage, and individual arms can be replaced without having to disassemble the transmission housing.
With a tractor power requirement from 80hp (59kW), the ZKP1400 folds to under 3.00m for transport. Options include air brakes and road lights.
The 1400 is the ninth rake in the ZKP range, all of which are designed and produced by Pronar. These include single and twin-rotor models and working widths up to 9.00m. The company also makes mowers (widest is a triple 8.30m), tedders, wrappers, round balers, mixer wagons and mounted fertiliser spreaders.
It remains to be seen when the flagship rake, and the rest of the machines, will cross the North Sea. Earlier this year, Pronar terminated its contract with Lancashire-based Pronar UK, which was a separate entity as a dealer/importer and not affiliated to the Polish manufacturer.
Pronar is actively seeking dealers to represent it in the UK and Ireland. The first one to sign on the dotted line is Aberystwyth-based dealer Agritrend in North Wales. The company says it is close to appointing two more and is involved in talks with several others potential dealers.
