Agrifac’ s Condor and Endurance self-propelled sprayers are now available with Weed-It spot spraying technology from fellow Dutch company Rometron.
Offered alongside the existing DynamicDosePlus and AiCPlus, Weed-It is claimed to reduce chemical costs by up to 90%. There are no cameras or images to process.
Instead, living plant chlorophyll emits a small portion of near infra-red light as a reaction to the light emitted by the boom-mounted Weed-It sensors. Referred to as fluorescence, the sensors distinguish growing weeds from dead plant matter and soil. Claimed to detect all weeds at all speeds, the technology also works in the dark.
Weed-It originated at Wageningen University & Research in 1997. Rometron launched it in 1999. The technology, which can be built onto all trailed and self-propelled sprayers with working widths up to at least 36m, is popular in Australia, Canada and North America. The first Agrifac sprayers with Weed-It technology have already been delivered in Australia and Europe.
