The striking paintwork on the first McCormick X8 VT-Drive in Switzerland looks pretty cool in the equally stunning Swiss mountains.
The special golden edition of the X8.680 is the result of work by Argo Tractors Swiss importer (McCormick and Landini) Samuel Stauffer.
Based at Les Thioleyres near Lake Geneva, the one-off paint job was specified by a contractor to match the other vehicles and machines in the transport fleet.
It took the Swiss importer a full day to drive the X8 nearly 300km across several spectacular mountain passes (highest was the Nufenen pass at 2,478m) to the customer in the Blenio valley.
“We could have done it quicker, but the weather and views were amazing so we just had to stop to take some pictures,” says Sébastien Stauffer. “Also, every time we stopped for a break the tractor soon attracted a crowd.”
The tractor will be used solely to pull slurry tankers and trailers. “The contractor will only use the drawbar and plans to remove the X8’s rear linkage arms,” adds Mr Stauffer, who runs the Swiss company with his father Jean-Pierre Stauffer.
