A wider range of spray booms, new spray controls and operator station are just some of the updates to the existing Italian-made MAF 2580 (2,500-litre capacity), 3180 (3,000-litre) and 3580 (3,500-litre) models for 2021. Plus, there is a new range-topper, the 4,000-litre 4080.
Described as a compact high capacity machine, the longer wheelbase allows the 4080 to carry the larger tank while maintaining the 50/50 weight distribution as the smaller models. Like the rest of the range the new flagship is powered by a 175hp four-pot John Deere Stage V engine.
The standard hydrostatic transmission in the 2580 and 3180 provides a top speed of 40km/hr. The optional (standard on the 3580 and 4080) higher performance package provides engine and transmission management with 40 or 50km/hr transport speeds.
Alternatively, mechanical drive can be specified with the Mc variants, which offer a joystick-controlled, infinitely variable hydro-mechanical transmission.
The upgraded steering system features automatic alignment when switching between two-wheel, four-wheel and crab steering modes. Steering power is also improved. This allows the fitment of wider, large diameter tyres and 4ws is now automatically disabled at speeds above 14km/hr.
Next season’s MAF models will be fitted with the M-Spray solution system. Adopted from John Deere’s range of trailed and self-propelled sprayers, the dual-circuit solution system has a dedicated 600lit/min filling pump, which fills the largest model in less than seven minutes.
The new range of MK spray booms (24.0m to 36.0m) are of a triangulated 3D steel construction with the stainless steel spray lines protected within the structure. Automatic boom control is provided by a Norac UC7 system, which has hybrid mode sensors and active centre frame control.
The cab provides Cat IV filtration as standard, and the John Deere-derived operator station features redesigned armrest controls and multifunction joystick. A choice of 4240 or 4640 GreenStar displays provide full control of the spraying process.
